![]() These forms are made of flameworked borosilicate glass. All of the glass that I use begins as straight tubes in varied diameters. Once the forms are complete they are connected to a high-vacuum pump, while heated in a kiln, to evacuate their interior of all air, dust and water vapor in order to create a very clean and contaminant free environment. Once all impurities are removed from the interior of the form, the glass is allowed to cool and a small amount of neon or argon gas is introduced. The glass is then sealed and removed from the vacuum system. In most of the pieces the forms are placed in close proximity to a high-voltage high-frequency power antenna, contained in the base, to produce the illumination. |
